Matt and I didn’t get our fill of horror this past October! And since Halloween is just barely a week behind us we’re stayin’ in the horror mood and sharing it with all of you!! YUP!!
So, Matt went to one of our favorite shops here in Sunny California, HOUSE OF SECRETS and snagged three blind pulls for us! Now, here we go!! First up we’ve got the IMAGE comic CHIN MUSIC #1 from Steve Niles and Tony Harris. Gangsters of the prohibition era meet demons, and there’s something strange afoot!
Next we stayed in the IMAGE realm with FIVEGHOSTS: THE HAUNTING OF FABIAN GRAY #1 from Frank J. Barbiere ad Chris Mooneyham. Mr. Fabian Gray has been graced with the powers of five literary ghosts! Join us as we question how this is possible!
Lastly we jump into VERTIGO’s comic COFFINHILL #1 from Caitlin Kittredge and Inaki Miranda. A rookie cop, Eve Coffin, catches a serial killer but is doomed by her family curse.
Listen to it all and find out which comic we loved the most, giving them a rating on our MYLAR METER! It’s creepy stuff and we just want to share.
Matt and Cat talk about comic book news that’s been passing through the internets! Have you heard about the Green Lantern scoop or the latest Guardians of The Galaxy casting?? We have!
Then the hate fumes start blazing when Matt’s 2-MINUTE HATE segment on Marvel Phase 2 gets him all riled up, and ranting well past the 2-minute mark.
And then we have a little movie talk in SHOULDA BEEN, COULDA BEEN for the 2000 “Totally Original Comedy” Superhero feature film THE SPECIALS. Have you seen it? We think you should watch it if you haven’t! Yup!
Beware of Space Raccoons while you take a listen!! KRACK-A-DOOM!!!
Matt and Cat are letting out their nerdy rage as the 10th Episode is live! YUP! Ten whole shows done and oh so many more to go as we plan to continue our Comic Book chatting ways!
In this 10th episode we start off with a BLIND PULL on a book I (Cat) found at a local book store. It’s a DARK HORSE graphic novel from 1989 called AQUABLUE which is french comic, translated to English by writer Thierry Calleteau. Hear what we gave this sci-fi “aqua-vatar” adventure on our old MYLAR METER!
Next up we offer our BACK ISSUE SPOTLIGHT to more DARK HORSE and their four issue Aliens series ALIENS: HIVE from 1992. How does this ALIENS story compare to other tales? You have to listen to find out!
Then we deliver a little segment we haven’t featured in a long while, the TWO MINUTE HATE where Matt and I pick a current comic book related event that drive us into flurry fits of ferocity! Matt let out his anger on the Captain America sequel and I vent about the MAN OF STEEL trailer.
Listen up and find out why this panel is featured here!!!
Sit back, relax and listen up to the comic book nerdy goodness we came to deliver! KRAK-A-DOOM!!!!
Episode 6: Debacle of The Decade or Showdown of The Century
Matt and Cat begin their journey to the 90′s to discuss how that decade of comics was a difficult time. Did you like it? We re-read the The DC vs. MARVEL battle/popularity contest from 1996 for our first topic of 90′s UGH.
And we toss in a little Marketing Monstrosity “juice” for good measure!
Listen and Enjoy! Keep Reading Comics! Krak-A-Doom! Yup!
Matt and Cat go off on a current event tangent talkin’ about the latest in Comic Book Movie news with Justice League, and Black Panther then we brag about an E3 adventure and share our thoughts on the super hero video game INJUSTICE Gods Among Us.
From there we compare Marketing Monstrosities of a cheesy kind with a dash of Spider-Man.
And lastly we wrap things up with a Panel To Projector tidbit, celebrating X-MAS a bit early with the LOBO PARAMILITARY CHRISTMAS SPECIAL. Thanks to YouTube you can watch it too, but hear our show first!

When Matt and I (Cat) were getting our podcast ready and coming up with segments we did a few practice runs. THE TWO MINUTE HATE is a discussion where we share what we’re peeved about. In this outtake Matt went on to complain about an article written on the film THE AVENGERS while I shared my major dislike of a superhero movie known as SUPERMAN RETURNS!
Take a listen and know that we’ll be back next week with a full episode, which we’re recording on Friday! Episode 5 is on the way!!
The back issue duo Matt and Cat are here to talk about comic books and introduce a few new segments! First up with VERSUS Matt takes up MARVEL’sMr. Fantastic/Reed Richards and I, Cat, root for DC’s The Elongated Man/Ralph Dibny. We square them off for some comparison and a friendly super hero battle. Who will win? The Smartest Man in the Marvel Universe, or lovable comic relief Ralph?? (Let us know who you’d choose in the comments!)
Next we present IF YOU LIKE DOT, DOT, DOT where we offer a comic book recommendation of Vertigo’s 10 year running series FABLES.

Last, and certainly never least, we offer up our PANEL TO PROJECTOR comparison of the 1975 WONDER WOMAN TV pilot starring Lynda Carter! What’s not to love? Matt does some drooling while I failed to admit I have a Wonder Woman outfit of my own. (It’s true!)
Super! Hot! WONDER WOMAN! Lynda Carter

Hello and welcome to MATT AND CAT HAVE BACK ISSUES!
Episode #1: Appropriate Level of Destuction or ALOD!
Matt and Cat have joined forces to battle the evil that is bland comic discussion. Our mission: To talk about Comic Books and Comic related topics…In this first episode we focus on Marvel’s THE AVENGERS! We both saw the movie on Friday, adding to it’s big box office numbers, and we came together to discuss our thoughts for PANEL TO PROJECTOR, the segment where we review a movie and see how it fared jumping from the panel pages to the big screen.
After that we picked up a few of our Back Issues of THE AVENGERS from the 80′s and 90′s for some RELATED READING. During our comic discussion we cover a lot of Marvel character history and both agreed about how much we dislike Rob Liefeld’s artwork!
Who has legs like that...Seriously?
From there we introduce our segment known as MARKETING MONSTROSITIES and take a look at a few unusual ads found within the comics of our collection. Remember this craziness?:
Take a listen for the full comic book related nonsense that Matt and Cat have to offer! We have a ton of Back Issues that need to see the light of day once more! Keep on reading comics, as that’s what we plan to do!
