Episode 20: A Gaggle Of Green Gargantuans

Matt and Cat are kicking off the new year by going green in 2013! That’s right, we’re thinking about the environment of comic books and checking out some green heroes and supervillains!

In our first 90′s UGH of the year we check out Erik Larsen’s SAVAGE DRAGON from Image Comics. There’s some ugh-ing ahead, so brace yourself as we delve into our complaints of comic in the 90′s.

Once we get all the complaining out of the way we keep on fighting the good green fight in our VERSUS where Matt and I face off our green Super Villains!

It’s a showdown between Marvel’s THE LIZARD and DC’s KILLER CROC. Who’s a badder bad ass? Who’s tougher and greener? Well we each do our best to figure it out! Let the battle begin!

Episode 14: Bad Luck Balls

There’s magic in the air! Can you feel it tingling? Matt and I (Cat) sure can! We spill some magic juice and keep on talkin’ comics for another week! Yup!

First up we give a Back Issue Spotlight to RAT BASTARD from Crucial Comics. This 1997 comic began with a four issue arc called FIT FOR A KING, and Matt and I debate if it was fit enough for the read. Who is RAT BASTARD? Who are the HUJA BROTHERS? Well listen and find out what we rate RAT BASTARD on the Mylar Meter!

Next up Matt stands up for SCARLET WITCH while I wave the magic wand for ZATANNA in our VERSUS segment. Hear how I (CAT) can’t pronounce Zatanna correctly and Matt shows off  his massive magical Marvel knowledge. Who is cooler? Who is more magical? Will we even settle on a final score?

Episode 8: Elvira, Satan’s Son and Versus…Oh My!

Matt and Cat get together to talk comics and spread some Halloween spirit in the summer month! We start off by talking about Elvira, The Mistress of the Dark. Matt actually got to meet the Mistress at Golden Apple Comics and he gets a bit distracted fantasizing about his experience. Listen for the drool! ;)

For a Back Issue Spotlight we review the comic book Elvira Mistress of the Dark issue #122 from Claypool Comics.

While Matt was at Golden Apple he went for a BLIND PULL and picked up Marvel Spotlight #13 featuring SON OF SATAN, from Marvel Comics. Hear us tell you about the origin of this cursed soul, the spawn of the devil and learn how his mom was seduced by the evil. (He was handsome, they touched…a lot! Seriously, it’s in the comic book!)

The show then gets serious when we set up the battle for the ages, a VERSUS where Matt take on Wolverine and Cat champions LOBO. Bad Ass vs. Bastich, Frag Frag FRAG! Who’s the best man? Who’s gonna win the a fight? Listen and find out!! Then go read some more comics!

The back issue duo Matt and Cat are here to talk about comic books and introduce a few new segments!  First up with VERSUS Matt takes up MARVEL’s Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards and I, Cat, root for DC’s The Elongated Man/Ralph Dibny. We square them off for some comparison and a friendly super hero battle.  Who will win?  The Smartest Man in the Marvel Universe, or lovable comic relief Ralph??  (Let us know who you’d choose in the comments!)
